Pastoral Search Team

The PST is pleased to report that our candidate has met with the elders and pastors, and that the outcome thus far is favorable. We are now in the confirmation process. Please pray that God will direct the hearts of the candidate and his wife and prepare the church body to be unified under one Spirit should this be the man God has chosen. (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Fall Discipleship Conference with Frank Turek–October 4 (FREE EVENT)

Mark your calendars! Dr. Frank Turek will be speaking at the morning service (10/4) at 9:30am, and he will be speaking from his book, I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist.

Please join us again in the evening at 6:30pm for Dr. Turek’s full presentation. He will address four questions to help establish why Christianity is the most reasonable worldview.

1. Does Truth Exist?

2. Does God Exist?

3. Are Miracles Possible?

4. Is the New Testament True?

There will be a time for Q&A at the end of the evening presentation.

Please email equip@hoffmantown.org with any questions. To register for childcare, the cost is $5 per child.

COVID-19 Update

We are looking forward to seeing you again this Sunday at 9:30am as you feel comfortable attending! There are some things we would like you to keep in mind for the safety of the congregation. First, masks are mandatory by everyone attending on-site, per the governor’s orders. We also ask that you continue practicing social distancing habits by maintaining 6 feet distance between family groups; as you take your seats in the worship center, please keep three (3) empty seats in between family groups. We will be doing our part to keep our building sanitized; please do your part by washing your hands often for at least 20 seconds. For more information and a list of frequently asked questions concerning our reopening plan, visit www.hoffmantownchurch.org/reopen.

We understand that many of you may not feel comfortable or may have concerns about returning, and we want you to know that there is absolutely no pressure for you to attend on-site until you feel ready. We would encourage you to continue to be discerning if you are in a higher-risk category. If you currently have any symptoms or have been around anyone with coronavirus recently, we ask that you please stay home and watch online until you are free from symptoms or exposure to COVID-19.

We will continue to stream our service live on Hoffmantown.OnlineFacebook, and YouTube, and we’d love for you to join us on any of those platforms. For those that decide to join us in person, we look forward to seeing you again!

If you experience technical issues on any of our platforms while watching the Sunday stream, the best thing to do is hit the refresh button at the top of your web browser window. If the issue persists, you can switch to one of our alternative streaming platforms. All of our streaming links are available on the front page of hoffmantownchurch.org.

We are looking for fifteen (15) couples to participate in a pilot for a marriage enrichment program. This will be offered through ZOOM on Thursday nights from 6–8pm, starting September 10. This ministry offers hope to marriages by helping couples move toward oneness through stories of grace, teaching, and small groups. Please consider participating in Re|engage; whether you are struggling to get along, have broken relationships, or simply want to grow closer together, marriages in any condition can benefit. For more information or to register, contact Kathy Tesch at 858-8696 or kathyt@hoffmantown.org by Monday, August 31.

The Jewishness of Paul’s Letters

Do you want to learn the Jewishness of the Pauline Epistles and the discovery of the interwoven nature of seven of Paul’s letters with seven books of the Old Testament? Do you want to gain a deeper understanding of the foundational truths of redemption found in the Hebrew Scripture and applied in the New Testament? Would you like to be able to give the Gospel presentation using Hebrew Scripture principles? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then join us in a ten-week course exploring the answers and more in round table discussions. This class will be taught by David Pitcher on Wednesdays, September 9-November 11, 6:30-8pm. Required Material: Finding the Oldest Midrash. The Identity of the Messiah. Second Edition. J. David Pitcher, Jr., MD. To register or for questions, email equip@hoffmantown.org.

Fall Tuesday Morning Class: The Gospel of John (Women’s ZOOM Class)

Please join us for an in-depth study of the life of Christ- His person, His work, and His teaching- as seen from the perspective of the Apostle John under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. By highlighting seven great miracles, John shows that Jesus is truly the Son of God; and by believing in Him, we may have life in His name. In these uncertain times, focusing on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his provision for us as believers is not only important but of great comfort. Class begins September 8 at 9:30am. To register for the class, please contact women@hoffmantown.org. Required Materials: Bible and notebook.

Experiencing God (Women’s ZOOM Class)

Wednesday nights, September 9-December 9, at 6:30pm. This 13-week Bible study is based on seven Scriptural realities that teach us how to develop a true relationship with the Creator. By understanding how God is working through us even as we try to fathom His ways, we can begin to clearly know and do His will and discover our lives greatly and gracefully changed. Required Material: Bible, Experiencing God Workbook. To register or for questions, email equip@hoffmantown.org.

Disciple Maker Training

Women, mark your calendars for September 1! Would you like encouragement and training in making disciples? Whether you are personally making disciples now, or would like to get started, a new monthly class called “Disciple Makers Training and Support” will give you instruction and encouragement for a lifetime of disciple making. Jeni Civerolo and Leslie Fuentes will be starting this class based on the book, Personal Disciple Making by Chris Adsit on Tuesday, September 1 from 6:30-8:30pm, in room B100 at Hoffmantown.  We will meet the first Tuesday of each month. Because we will be meeting only once a month, we will need 14 months to complete the course. You only need to bring two things: a heart for disciple making, and the book. A notebook will be provided along with SNACKS! If you would like to sign up or have any questions, please contact Leslie at (505) 259-6428, or Jeni at (505) (463-0170).

COME HOME- Sunday School Class through ZOOM

If you have not been able to connect in a Sunday School class since COVID hit, please email us at equip@hoffmantown.org. We would be happy to work with you and get you into a ZOOM online class. If you know of someone who is not connected into a Sunday School class, please invite them into your class.

Daily Prayer Reminder

Remember, 6pm we pray! Each and every day! We are praying for our new pastor, our pastor search team, and our church family. This is one way we can pray together as a church body during this time of sheltering in place.

AWANA Volunteers Needed

We are preparing for another year of Awana here at Hoffmantown. We will be offering in person club attendance as well as remote learning for kids 2 years-8th grade. We have a need for leaders in all clubs, but the need is critical in our preschool and K-2nd grade areas. We are anticipating yet another year of growth as we have grown 15-20% each year, the last 2 years. Families are hungry for their kids to be able to attend some type of activity in person. We believe the Lord is going to bring more un-saved kids to us than ever before. So, we need help. In order to serve, you will need to pass a background check. You need to be available 6:00-8:30 on Wednesday evenings. Awana experience is not necessary, we will teach you! If you are interested please contact Sarah in Kids Ministry at sarahg@hoffmantown.org. More information about Awana at Hoffmantown can be found at https://www.hoffmantownchurch.org/awana/.

AWANA Registration

AWANA Registration is on Wednesday, August 19. AWANA is a Bible Study program filled with fun and scripture memorization for kids 2 years-8th grade. If your family has previously participated in AWANA (either at Htown or another church) please come between 6 and 7pm. If you are new to AWANA, please come at 7pm so we can spend more time with your family. Registration will take place in the Fellowship Mall. The registration form is available online, please print and fill it out before coming on Wednesday. Please contact Sarah in Kids Ministry at sarahg@hoffmantown.org with any questions.

Robert and Cirena Smith

Robert “Smitty” and his wife Cirena are our beloved missionaries who work with Ethnos 360 in the Philippines. They are stateside on furlough, and have expressed some needs they have. If you are interested in coming alongside this Hoffmantown family you can contact Adrienne Mouck in the Mission Office at Missions@hoffmantown.org or (505)858-8660. Their needs are:

• Eventually we will need a new used vehicle as the one we are using now is only available until the middle of October. We’re hoping to leave our daughter with a safe reliable vehicle when we return to the Philippines next year.

• With our daughter starting college soon at GCU, she will need a laptop of her own. She is hoping to get the new Mac Book Air.  School starts online after Labor Day but Lord willing she’ll move onto campus late September.

• More of a wish than a need is to have a washer and dryer so as not to have to go out each week to the laundry mat.

• Ministry donations are also welcome and can be made directly at https://ethnos360.org/missionaries/robert-and-cirena-smith.

Kennedy Middle School

The Kennedy Middle School Food Bank is looking for a few volunteers to help pass out food boxes on August 22, from 8–11am. For more information or if you’d like to help contact Adrienne in the Mission Office at Missions@hoffmantown.org or (505) 858-8660.

Did you know that Hoffmantown Church supports missions and missionaries from Albuquerque and New Mexico to the uttermost parts of the world? The Church Council recently met with the Missions Council and heard wonderful reports and updates from them on what God is doing around the world through Hoffmantown giving. God is good, and well done Hoffmantown! Our funds are used to glorify God in both open and closed countries, spreading the Good News across all the world, and we rigorously vet those we support.

Annual Meeting – Sunday, September 27, from 3-5pm in the Worship Center and online streaming. Church updates will be given by ministries and councils, and a vote will be taken for minor bylaw changes and for two new Church Council members. Nominations for these positions will be accepted until August 23 at churchcouncil@hoffmantown.org. More details to come. As always, the Church Council welcomes your questions and comments.
