This Week’s Worship Service (May 17, 2020)
Today, Nate Herbst will be speaking about “Four Practices of a Superstar” (Philippians 2:1-14). Our songs will be Leaning On The Everlasting Arms by Elisha Albright Hoffman, Anthony J. Showalter, and Anthony Johnson Showalter, Jesus Messiah by Daniel Carson, Ed Cash, Jesse Reeves, and Chris Tomlin, and King Of Kings by Brooke Ligertwood, Jason Ingram, and Scott Ligertwood, arr. by Travis Cottrell.
In light of the recent announcement allowing churches to reopen at 10% capacity, our pastors and leaders have been praying and relying on the Holy Spirit for direction on how to move forward. As of now, we will continue hosting our worship service online only for the next two weeks; we will not be meeting on-site at this time. Please keep the pastors and staff in your prayers as we plan for how we will move forward in the coming weeks.
As soon as we solidify plans for gathering again on-site, we will communicate with you when and how we will implement them.

This time, we will work through the study via ZOOM call. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have not already registered for the class and/or are needing a book. We hope you can make it!
Tuesday Afternoons is for widows and widowers to come and study the Word of God, pray together and join each other in fellowship and fun. STUDENT & FAMILY MINISTRIES
VBS Prayer Request
Dear Family of Hoffmantown,
We ask you to pray this Sunday for the National Day of Prayer for Vacation Bible School – although we are just now looking at coming out of some COVID19 restrictions, we do want to lift up VBS, the kids and their families and whenever we can have it. Please pray: that kids may be impacted by the Gospel, that the leaders we need agree to help, parents and guardians continue to lead their children in knowing Jesus more, that kids and leaders stay healthy.
Thank you so much for praying.
Pastor John Rupley, Staff and Council of Kid’s Ministry
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
As kids explore a world of concrete and cranes, rivets and rebar, bulldozers and backhoes, they will learn to build their faith on Jesus as they uncover the truth that He who began a good work will be faithful to carry it on to completion. Hoffmantown Kids VBS is a free event, July 27-31 from 9am-12:15pm for children entering kindergarten-entering 8th grade. Registration is now available at: www.hoffmantownchurch.org/vbs/. We are still seeking volunteers, if you are interested in serving, please contact Sarah Goodrich firstname.lastname@example.org.
VBS Supplies Needed
We are in need of supplies for Vacation Bible School. We are still planning on doing VBS July 27-31, so we need to continue with the preparations. Since we are not able to set up a donation board for you all to see this year, we have made a digital one. Please see this link: www.hoffmantownchurch.org/vbs/donate/ for more information. You are more than welcome to have supplies ship to the church directly if you order online. Please contact Sarah in Kids Ministry at email@example.com with any questions.

Upcoming Mission Trip with Joni and Friends
This is a short, close to home mission trip that occurs July 21-25. Joni and Friends hosts a Family Retreat at Lone Tree Camp in Capitan for families with disabilities, we need volunteers as camp missionary support for the families. The camp provides 5-days full of fun, respite, sharing the gospel, and meeting more incredible members of the body. We are partnering with them to provide missionaries (you) who will assist the families attending the retreat. You will receive training. No disability experience required. Must be a committed Christian who is willing to learn and serve. Any of our students (mature 16-year-old or older) in our Church are welcome, and there is no upper age limit. For more information please contact Deborah Atencio directly at (505)269-3198. This event is fully supported by the Mission Ministry and Mission Council at Hoffmantown.

The Church Council met with the Student Ministry leaders this month, and we are thrilled at the BLESSINGS this TEAM is to our students and parents, and this entire Body! Did you know that the Student Ministry and Student Council, which includes parents, high school and college students, comes alongside of parents to disciple their children 7th grade through college? Thank You Lord for Pastor Gregory and the Student Ministry!
The Finance Committee is working with the Church leadership and staff to develop a new budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Look for a budget summary in the Compass in the next few weeks. There will be a Church vote in late June. With the complexity of the COVID-19 shutdown, we are working to develop a good Q&A system for your budget questions.
The Church Council affirmed the following members to the Personnel Committee. Welcome to Ralph Bonner, Virginia Grant, Fred Jenkins and Bill Wallis, with David Hopkins and Sam Mouck. Thank you for serving our church!
Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, our office hours will now be Monday– Thursday 8:30am–4pm and Friday 8:30am–1:30pm until further notice.
