CHURCH-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS

This Week’s Worship Service

This Sunday Steve Dighton will be preaching on Living a Life of Integrity (Ephesians 5:1-5). Today’s songs will be Every Praise, Jesus Paid It All, Because He Lives (Amen), and Lifesong.

Church Council

We have received a number of questions regarding how the Church Council is to operate. We will be answering those questions on the website athoffmantownchurch.org/church-council. As always, if you have specific questions, please send those to churchcouncil@hoffmantown.org.

Elder Affirmation

Tom Caudill has been nominated and it has been affirmed that he is being called by God to serve as an Elder for Hoffmantown Church. Tom has been reviewed by the Elders and meets the qualifications required in our Bylaws Article V, Section 1. He has been endorsed by the Elders and the 30-day congregational review period starts effective Sunday, August 18. Anyone who has a Biblical objection to Tom serving as an Elder must submit that objection in writing to the Elder Council for consideration and response during this 30-day review. Please pray for Tom and his wife, Kim as they begin this journey.

Ministry Spotlight: Adult Family and Equipping Ministries

Come join Adult Family and Equipping Ministries in the Fellowship Mall for the next 3 weeks before and after service. Come learn about the different Fall Semester Bible Studies that are being offered, register for a Bible Study, find a K-Group, or get connected with our Disciple Care Ministry. We all need a place to come fellowship and grow in Christ together. For more information email us at afm@hoffmantown.org or equip@hoffmantown.org.

Seeking After Living Truth Home Group (S.A.L.T.)

If you are between the ages of 25 and 35 years old, please come join us every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.  This group will be gathering to study the Word and learn what it means to put it in action. Now is a great time to join, as we are starting up a new study called Clarifying the Bible. We will meet in a host home so please contact Tabitha Baker for more information at 858-8624 or at equip@hoffmantown.org.

KIDS & STUDENT FAMILY MINISTRIES

Kids Ministry Needs your Help!

There have been lots of babies born in the last year. We are adding another nursery classroom so we need lead teachers and assistants for both the 9:30am and 11am hours. We also are adding another class in the elementary school area. So, we are looking for teachers and assistants for the 11am 1st and 2nd grade class. We also have several openings in preschool and elementary children’s church during the 9:30am hour. Contact Sarah Goodrich in the children’s foyer or email at sarahg@hoffmantown.org to find out how to get involved today!

Kids Ministry Staff Needed

Kids Ministry is seeking additions to our paid childcare staff. The childcare staff are responsible for providing care during the Tuesday morning Bible studies and helping care for the children’s equipment. Candidates should be available Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons for a total of about 6.5 hours per week. Interested individuals should have experience working with babies and preschoolers, be a regular attender of Hoffmantown, and able to pass a background check. To apply, please contact Sarah Goodrich in Kids Ministry at 858-8601 or sarahg@hoffmantown.org for an application.

MISSION

Solomon Islands

Our January/February, 14-day mission support trip to the Solomon Islands (middle of summer there) is open. If loving and ministering to missionary kids and doing some building, painting (exterior) excites you, contact our Mission Ministry at missions@hoffmantown.org.

Balloon Fiesta

A little different this year, but still easy (you can take a nap afterwards). This is an early morning event, but warm coffee for volunteers will be thoroughly provided. We need at least 4-6 volunteers each day to offer coffee, hot chocolate, water, and God’s love to those going to the Balloon Fiesta. We need stewards on October 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 13. Contact the Mission office if you are interested at 858-8660 or missions@hoffmantown.org.

Philippines and SE Asia

You are sending a team to the Philippines to minister to missionaries and their families. Please be in prayer for the team as they travel abroad: Austen Drake, Sarah Goodrich, Erica Chavez, Jimmy Stribling, and John Rupley. In addition to the Philippines, Nate Herbst and John Rupley will go to SE Asia to visit, train, and disciple our growing body of believers there. Please pray for both of these teams!

Special Mission Funding

Our Special Mission Fund supports our church teams and ministry needs. In a few weeks, a team will depart for the Philippines. This is only possible through your sacrificial giving above your tithe. Won’t you please help?

Kennedy Middle School

The Kennedy Middle School food bank is back on and in need of volunteers. Join us Saturday, August 24 from 8:15am-12pm to help distribute food to families in need. If you are interested, contact the Mission office at 858-8660 or missions@hoffmantown.org.

Life Resource Center

The Derash Tetralogy by J. David Pitcher, MD

Hoffmantown’s own, Dave Pitcher, has written a scripturally based end-times novel interweaving both Jewish and Christian perspectives. Based on a true account, follow the discovery of a First Century manuscript as its secrets are unraveled. Espionage, political scheming, romance and intrigue all culminate in the next great event in history, second only to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The LRC has a limited supply of the inaugural printing offered at $7.99. Great summer reading–get it while you can!
