Faith Over Fear: Part 3

Faith Over Fear: Part 3 – “Are We In Compliance?”

Hello, Hoffmantown Church Family!

As I roll into this mid-week update from your pastoral staff, I want you all to know that despite all the sometimes-disheartening news coming into your home, GOD IS IN CONTROL! I believe He gave our church leaders great wisdom as we took steps two weeks ago to increase our “social distancing” while staying connected through the power of the Holy Spirit and His WORD. We are already in compliance with the new directions sent out by the New Mexico Dept of Health for the Governor.

In this “Faith Over Fear” series I’ve been sharing stories from Joshua, one of my favorite books of the Bible. As I read about how God led the Nation of Israel on their return to the Promised Land, I am constantly reminded of the fact that Joshua has been an optimist from the first time we met him back in Exodus. He and Caleb were the two “clandestine operators” who went inside the old boundaries of their Homeland to spy on the nations inhabiting the land. They knew even then that the land was “theirs for the taking”! They never lost their vision, and they never forgot God’s promises. In return for their faith, God allowed Joshua and Caleb to be the only men of their generation to see His promises fulfilled. They inhabited the Promised Land. God will honor faithfulness. He always has, and always will. So…Keep the Faith! Even as we move into this next phase of restrictions to defeat COVID-19, we are called to be people of faith, not fear. Here is how we are continuing to step out in FAITH this week as we seek to be good citizens as we take care of the Body of Christ at Hoffmantown Church:

WORSHIP SERVICES: We will continue with our online streaming service format at 9:30 Sunday

  • Dr. Cone will be with us again this week!
    • You have the freedom to worship “as you are”, even sitting in a hot tub!
  • We have been meeting and exceeding all the requirements of the newest State of NM Public Health Order since moving to live streaming services two weeks ago
    • We humbly ask that everyone honor the intent of the health directive by staying home, and worshiping with us online
    • This is to protect you, and the staff who are putting together these wonderful services
    • We have HUNDREDS from around the WORLD joining us for services!
    • NOW is a great time to embrace “Reach 2020” and invite your neighbors to join us online!

OFFICE HOURS: We have reduced our on-site staff each day to the minimum required to remain operational as a place of worship, as we continue to minister to a large flock

  • The receptionists are on site and can help with people needing items from the food pantry or with benevolence requests, or who wish to deliver tithes and offerings in person.
    • Again, we humbly ask that these personal contacts be kept to a minimum for the health and safety of the entire church body and staff, and our community
      •  If you have an emergency need, we are here to help at 505-828-2600
      • This is your best connection to many Hoffmantown Church resources

Bible Studies & Fellowship Opportunities: We are finding new ways to meet online for almost every activity

  • The Adult Family Ministries staff has been contacting Sunday School leaders, care group leaders, and many individuals to lead us into a new era of electronic studies
    • We have Sunday School classes now “meeting” at various times throughout the week on their smart phones and computers
    • We are shifting our weekday bible study and care classes to online formats
  • Kid’s Ministry is connecting with parents to provide home Bible study materials to share with children, and provide other online resources to keep kids engaged in the Word
  • AWANA teams are meeting online in the older age groups, and we are preparing to roll out online resources for the Cubbies and Sparks to continue with activities such as Bible verse memorization

NEW OPPORTUNITIES: This afternoon at 2:30 pm, join us to “chat” with the Pastors. We are trying new ways to see and hear from you every day!

In every area, we have taken positive steps to ensure the health and safety of our congregation. We are striving to be good community partners in defeating this health crisis. Through it all, we are fulfilling our Biblical mandate to “not neglect meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25). You have all stepped up to the challenges by “attending” church on our website and through video classes. You have continued to bring in your tithes and offerings, and we are very THANKFUL. Please do not stop! In times like this, if you CAN increase your giving, we are facing looming financial challenges as we serve a hurting community.

To God Be the Glory!

Pastor Tim
