CHURCH COUNCIL
churchcouncil@hoffmantown.org
Current Members:
Elders: Gerald Farley and Merv Jersak
Pastors: Lamar Morin and Gregory Elder
Deacons: Stacy Fugate and John McBee
Operations: Sam Mouck
At Large Members: Nathan Brannon, Paula Gibson, Stacey Lake, Dave Pitcher, Jerri Rose and Tom Smith
At our meeting on July 3, Allan Rider, chairman of the Deacons, and Jeff McElwain gave us an overview of the ministry work of the Deacon team. They said the Deacons currently serve as ushers, cart drivers, and security, and they all try to serve in one or more of these areas. Some areas where they previously served are now under the umbrella of Adult Family Ministries, and it is a blessing to have those areas covered by such willing people. The Deacons asked prayer for those in the ministry to be continually mindful of God’s desires and to stay focused on serving Him.
We were also joined by Doug Lawson, chairman of the Finance Committee. As he shared, he emphasized the two key words on which the committee focuses: stewardship and communication. He said the committee receives weekly finance reports, they do monthly reviews and provide transparent reports to the church council and in the Compass Plus, they do quarterly meetings with the bank to review investments, and they do annual reviews of the budget ceiling and overall health. They openly communicate all their findings in meetings with Sunday School classes, the annual church meeting, and other avenues. Doug mentioned that Hoffmantown is extremely blessed to be a church with no debt, but we need to continue to pray for wisdom and for hearts that are sensitive to the giving needs and to the Lord’s direction.
