What is the Gospel

Hoffmantown Church is fundamentally committed to experiencing and sharing the love of God within the church, with those around us, and to the uttermost reaches of the world. The first step in experiencing God and His love is the Gospel, the “good news” that God:

• Loves us,
• Desires a continuing, personal relationship with each of us,
• Is ready to give us His saving grace, and
• Will welcome us into His forever family.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16, ESV)

But people choose to disobey God and follow their own desires and are separated from God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 2:23, ESV)

This can be illustrated as a deep chasm, separating man from God.

Separated from God, man faces the wages of sin and spiritual death. Being with God, man would have blessings and eternal life. But God has sent His Son, Jesus, to bridge the gap by dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

We can cross the bridge by accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord and asking Him to come into our lives.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. (John 1:12)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

For if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Are you ready to begin a relationship with Jesus?

If you are ready to make a decision to begin a relationship like Jesus, wherever you are right now pray something like this:

Dear God, I know I'm a sinner, I know I've messed up. I understand that my sin separates me from you. I know Jesus dies for all sinners including me. Today in the best way I know how I'm turning from my life of sin and I'm turning to you, Jesus. I trust you. Would you save me today? I repent of my sins, I give them to you believing that you will forgive and save me. Please, Jesus, transform my life. Come into my life and be my savior and be my Lord. I ask this in faith. In the name of Jesus, I pray amen.

If you prayed that prayer, there's a party going on in heaven right now. Celebrating the fact that your life has been transformed! We'd love to know about your decision so that we can help you begin this journey. Give one of our pastors a call at 505.858.8609 or contact us and tell us about it.
