Attention Past Church Work Day Participants and Future Workers…

Your opportunity to come help beautify our wonderful campus again is coming up this Saturday, September 10. We will gather near Mission Field around 8am and venture off to pull weeds, trim bushes, and rake rock among many other projects to spruce up the whole campus. Please wear your working clothes and provide your own gloves and hats. Please also bring your own favorite rakes, pruners, lopers, etc. to join the fun. We will also need several folks to bring their pickup trucks who would be willing to make a run to the City dump with clippings. The church will provide ice water and donuts.

We would also like to use this work day occasion to introduce the church body to an opportunity to volunteer your talents on an on-going basis to assist the church on future projects. We have some future xeriscape projects and indoor minor remodeling projects that we are hoping to accomplish with in-body expertise. So, if you are skilled in carpentry, plumbing, dry wall, etc., please look up Jim Smith during the work day and signup for some future project. Contact Sam Mouck at operations@hoffmantown.org if you have any questions.

MISSIONS

Balloon Fiesta Outreach

With fall comes hot air balloons and the Mission Ministry’s Balloon Fiesta Outreach! This is a fun time to share the love of Christ to those attending the Fiesta through happy greetings and warm cups of hot chocolate and coffee. Missions will be doing this outreach the mornings of October 1-2 and October 7-9 right out in our parking lot. We’d love to have at least 8 lovely volunteers signed up for each day. However, if we do not get enough volunteers for a certain day we will NOT be doing the outreach, so please join us in signing up to help! If you are interested, there is a sign up table in the Fellowship mall or you can contact Adrienne at Missions@hoffmantown.org or 858-8660.

CHURCH COUNCIL

churchcouncil@hoffmantown.org

Current Members:

Elders: Tom Caudill and Jim Dearholt

Pastors: Lamar Morin and David Hopkins

Deacons: Drayton Boozer and Dave Jarvis

Operations: Sam Mouck

At Large Members: D’Ann Craft, Steve Gnerich, Jeff McElwain, Patricia Rogers, Linda Rupp and Bruce Townsend

Members of the Facility Operations Team met with the Church Council in its last meeting on September 1. The latest big project to be completed has been the restriping of the parking lot. The conversion to all LED lighting both inside and out is ongoing and being completed gradually as the current lights fail, but what has been completed so far is already yielding substantial savings on power costs. One of the bigger projects for the future is the conversion of building “B” to the chiller cooling rather than the swamp coolers currently used; this will make the chiller much more efficient and will also save money, once completed.

Jim Smith, Elder, has volunteered to head up a team to coordinate work projects around the church using volunteer church members with specialized skills.

We appreciate all of the hard work of our Operations Team to maintain and improve our facility. Check out the Hoffmantown website for a listing and pictures of the team that we as a church are blessed with, and express your appreciation to them as you see them around the building!
