Hoffmantown’s Round Up

Round up your friends and family and come enjoy our church wide picnic Sunday, September 12, from 5-7pm, in the patio/grass/parking lot area just east of the church building. The fun will include activities for all…and a Pastoral Quartet! Hoffmantown will provide sliced BBQ brisket (without buns), paper goods, tea and water, and free kona ice for the kids. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share (bring this at 4:30pm to set up), games of your choice, a blanket and/or lawn chairs, as well as a friend. You don’t want to miss this!

Church Family,

Join us Thursday, August 12 at 6:30pm in room B100 to learn how the Lord is working in Central Asia. A planting team that serves an unreached people group will share about their experiences sowing seeds on field. Come be encouraged by their message and consider how you can participate in their task.

Truth Matters (New Sermon Series)

There is a battle today concerning truth. What is truth, and does it even matter? The Bible gives us strong truth and clearly tells us Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life. As Christians, we are to walk in the truth, deny deception, and defend the truth. Join us on August 22nd for a new sermon series on the book of Jude as we study what truth is and that Truth Matters!

In Loving Memory

Please continue to be in prayer for the families of Bonnie Clausen, John Hilford, Dorothy Garrett and Gene McCurdy.

ADULT FAMILY / EQUIPPING MINISTRIES

Love In Action–Men at Inlow Baptist Camp

The Men’s Retreat, August 19-21, taking place at Inlow Baptist Camp, is a time for the men of Hoffmantown to come and learn about the importance and power of God’s love found in the Bible. Over three teaching sessions, you will learn how to grow deeper in your love for God and how to put that love into action with others in your home, church, community, and the world. Registration is required and the cost is $60 per person. Register online at hoffmantownchurch.org/events/mens-retreat/.

STUDENTS & KIDS MINISTRY

Parents Night Out

Your kids are invited to a Mad Science Parents Night Out! Parents Night Out is an opportunity for couples to pour into their marriage while their kiddos ages 6 weeks-6th grade get to come have a fun time at church. Parents Night Out is held 3 times a year in September, December, and February. In September we are going to dive deep into some fun science experiments. Preschoolers will be learning all about Creation to explore God’s handiwork. Kindergarten-6th graders will be doing some awesome chemistry experiments to learn about just how creative our God really is. The cost is $10 per child with a family maximum of $40. Registration is available at hoffmantownchurch.org/events/pno.

Childcare Workers Needed

Hoffmantown Kids is seeking part time paid childcare workers. These servants will be scheduled on Tuesday mornings to provide childcare support to our MOPS and Women’s Bible Study programs. There will also be opportunities for additional hours for special events like conferences and congregational meetings. Candidates should have experience being around young children and a willingness to learn about our care methods. Church members are preferred; however, candidates do not have to be church members, but must actively be walking with the Lord. This is a great part time opportunity for retirees, stay at home moms, and college students. Interested individuals may pick up an application at the Receptionist Desk.

MUSIC & WORSHIP MINISTRY

Worship Choir and Orchestra

If you love music, singing or playing an instrument, and worshiping the Lord, then come and check out the Worship Choir and Orchestra! Weekly rehearsals have started. This Wednesday, August 11th, the Choir will begin rehearsal in room B100 at 6:30pm and then later join the Orchestra in the Worship Center. Feel free to come and “sit in” on any rehearsal and see and hear what the Music & Worship Ministry is all about. There’s no pressure to join, but if you are interested in becoming a member, you can speak with any of the leaders or email music@hoffmantown.org for more information.

MISSION

Mission Prayer Moment

Two prayer requests have come in from our missionaries in the field. Join the Mission Council as we pray for our missionaries to the South Pacific islands, Tom and Lynn Jackson. They are prepared to return to the islands, but are stalled because of the cost of flying and quarantining in two countries before they can get back to the mission site. Pray that God will remove these barriers and return them to place of ministry. Please also pray for Reuben and Florence, our Ugandan missionaries. They request that we pray for Rueben’s health and medical procedures, as well as for the churches and schools to be allowed to open in Uganda.
